Thanks for taking this on. This is a large issue for a thesis. Good Luck.
On another note what is a Maryland "Licensed" Certified Interior Designer? Is Maryland actually licensing the title CID? I am a freak about titles and credentials and I am unaware that it is possible to be both licensed and certified in any state. Let me know so I can correct myself. THANKS

    1. Thank you, spread the survey - I want as many in the industry to participate as possible!

"Certified Interior Designer" is a license category in Maryland, the state board of Certified Interior Designers is under the Dept of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

  2. Yes I will spread the word.

With all due respect- You are free to call yourself whatever you want within the law but IMO you are taking some liberties with the credential which in Maryland is simply "Certified Interior Designer" or "CID". I cannot find any requirement to even preface the appellation with "Maryland" as required in other states where the Certified Interior Decorators International have protested the use of the acronym CID.

Bottom line I maintain that we owe it to the public and our policy makers to be incredibly careful how we present ourselves- Just because the governing body has licensing in the title does not mean you are "licensed". That said if you were issued an actual "license" that entitles you to use the title appellation "Maryland Licensed Certified Interior Designer" then please let me know and I will take that information file it for future reference, and let you get on with your thesis.

  3. Okay I have to eat a bit of crow here....and I am not as obsessed about this as I appear. I reread your "about me" bio and my above tirade. Mea Culpa- If you want to describe yourself as a Maryland Licensed Certified Interior Designer as an autobiographical synopsis of the CID credential I have no business asking you to justify it. You are not using it as a credential itself...Good grief I need to work on my reading skills.

Again good luck with the thesis.
